Hello hello! I hope you’re having a good Tuesday so far. It’s going to be another nice day in Chicago and I’m fully prepared to enjoy it all. I go back to work Thursday, boo, so I’m making the most of my time off! Today it’s all about 10 things. 10 random things I’ve seen, done, eaten, bought, whatever.
Some much needed time off: Matt and I have had a long stretch of time off and we’re soaking up every second! Of course, we’ve had some “need-to-do” things during our time off but it’s been nice to just ~chill~. We’re golfing today(!) and we’re going to work on making our patio a little nicer. Before & after photos to come!
Travis Barker’s home tour: Have you guys seen his house?! I’m obsessed. Travis – and his home! – seems so peaceful and down-to-earth even when drowning in wealth. His home is everything I’d want in a California house.
258 Amesbury Point Road: Speaking of houses… this Maine home is probably my dream! It sits on three acres on an island that is only accessible by boat. Matt and I went to Bar Harbor, ME with his family in 2021 and to this day, it is one of my favorite trips! Imagine sitting by a campfire, breathing in the crisp summer air and looking up at the night sky. Eek! Perfection.

Hot dogs & baseball: With our extended time off, we decided to go to a Cubs game! Day games are cheaper than weekend and evening games so we managed to snag 2 tickets for $28! Two beers at the ballpark cost us that much, ha! After the game, we hit up our favorite hot dog spot, Byron’s. I got a Chicago dog combo (fries and drink) while Matt got a polish combo and it was a little more than $20. Save your money and get your hot dogs outside the ballpark!
J. Crew Summer Picks: Although the J. Crew Ready, Set, Summer sale is over, you can still score 50% off of summer sale items using code SUMMER. I shared a collage of my recent J. Crew favs on my LTK for the next sale. (Pro-tip: never buy J. Crew full price! There’s always a sale coming around!)
Summer reading: I read a book! I recently finished Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell and, for the most part, enjoyed it. The story was a little predictable but it is a fun, quick read. I’m planning to read People We Meet on Vacation next (finally)!
Intro to Web Development: I am really interested in learning web design, especially for the purposes of my own website but I have no idea where to begin. Gone are the days of MySpace and Xanga HTML and color codes! I signed up for the Intro to Web Development course on Coursera and can audit it for free. (Or, you can pay to enroll in the class and receive grades from the instructor.)
New-to-me Chicago restaurants: We went to Enoteca Roma on Division in UKV/Wicker and it was SO. GOOD! Their menu includes a bruschetta flight, delicious looking pizza (I’m sad we didn’t get any), fresh salads, and excellent pasta. We went with Matt’s brother and sister-in-law and split 2 bruschetta flights with them and then Matt and I split the arugula & parm salad and the gnocchi alla erbe (herb gnocchi with braised pork). Yum!
Speaking of food… Small Cheval & Foxtrot are coming to Wrigleyville!: Well, Foxtrot opened a few days ago in the former Starbucks Reserve spot in Gallagher Way. Small Cheval is going to open where the old Maddon’s Post was. I think Maddon’s lasted like, less than a year. Why they opened a “nice” restaurant at Wrigley Field, I’ll never understand. Anyway… I am pumped for Small Cheval! We went to Au Cheval the first few months we moved to the city but haven’t been back.
Harry’s House: I mean, enough said! I’m officially saving up all of my money for his next tour. Harry went from a nice-to-see to a must-see!!!
