We’re already half way through the first month of the new year! Can you believe it?! It’s taken me a minute to share my 2022 goals because it’s taken me a minute to narrow them down. I thought about doing something broad, like setting a theme(!), but ultimately decided against it. Anyway, let’s get into it!
Get in my best shape
Oh, so cliché. But I’m being real! I don’t need to be able to run a marathon or be a certain weight. I do, however, want to live a long, healthy life. And that means being flexible (more stretching!), choosing nutritious foods most of the time, and doing regular cardio and strength training.
Read more books! And decrease my screen time
I spend way, way too much time in front of a screen. My phone, my laptop, watching TV. Yikes. It’s not great. I often find myself scrolling, scrolling, scrolling on my phone before I fall asleep, when I wake up, and when I have a few minutes of downtime. And then, before I know it, it’s been an hour! I’ve been making a conscious effort lately to decrease my screen time and am going to continue that into the new year.
One way that I’ve cut back on my phone scrolling is that I’ve replaced it with my Kindle. The last week or so, I’ve brought my Kindle to the gym so I can read while I’m walking on the treadmill rather than scrolling on my phone.
Declutter & Reorganize
It seems like decluttering is always one of my top priorities. My issue is that I have no problem getting rid of most things. It’s the acquiring of things that’s an issue for me. I’m a recovering shopaholic! That and the fact that we live in a space that we’ve severely outgrown makes for a packed apartment. The plan for the first few months of the year is to go on a major decluttering spree: beauty products, cleaning products, consolidating items! You name it.
I also want to reorganize in a way that actually makes sense. Sunscreen should be with sunscreen. Winter items should be with other winter items. Seasonal décor with other seasonal décor. You know? I feel like I’m always looking for something where it should be… but it’s not.
Have more fun!
I won’t lie and say the last few years have been a total bore. Matt and I have traveled a lot and I’ve been to a handful of new-to-me states! And I almost always have a great time with my family or taking Ellie to the park. But like, I want to do more?! For example, we went skiing/snowboarding with Matt’s nephew last weekend! That’s fun! And different! I want to do more of that, you know?
I’m also, very obviously, looking forward to wedding planning!!

What are your goals for the new year? How do you check in on your goals 1, 3, 6 months down the line?
