Late Summer Bucket List

Hey, friends. How’s it going? How’s your week? And start to the new month? What’s new?

I can’t believe it’s already August. (I truly hate when people say, “I can’t believe it’s X” but here I am.) Time simultaneously feels like it’s dragging on while passing by at the speed of light. And I feel like a jackass making a “Late Summer Bucket List” but honestly, I could use a few things to look forward to!

Late Summer Bucket List

Patio hangs // I can count on one hand the number of patio dinners Matt and I have had this summer. Which is, you know, entirely depressing, since Chicago has a limited patio season. (Although with COVID, many restaurants employed heat lamps to extend outdoor dining into the winter.) So, the goal for the rest of summer (or until the end of September? Unsure) is to sit on more patios.

Farmers markets // I haven’t been to a farmers market all summer. And I’m actually really upset about it. It’s like my work schedule and social (ha) schedule are conspiring against me. Luckily, I’ve got this whole upcoming weekend off of work with zero plans! So if you’re looking for me this Saturday and you can’t find me on my couch, check the Lincoln Park Farmers Market. Specifically the lavender stand. My apartment could use the flowery smells, you know?

More ice cream // Obvious statement is obvious.

More golf with Matt (and maybe a few girlfriends?)

Bike ride along the lakefront

Take a swim in a city or gym pool

Bring Ellie to the dog beach (and not care about the amount of sand she brings into our apartment)

All the margaritas & sourdough pizza (hint hint to Matt…)

Plan a vacation // This one is in the works! Matt and I are currently waffling between our Utah trip that we were supposed to take in June/July, a trip to The Rockies, or a trip to The Smokies. They’re all relatively the same price and the same difficulty to get to so we’re stuck. What do you think?

Run a 5K // Matt and his family are hosting a 5K for their youngest brother, James, who passed away in March 2020. I will talk more about it later but if you’re local to the north Chicago suburbs and are looking a 5K Fun Run/Walk to participate in, I’ve got one for you!

What are you hoping to do before the summer ends? Let me know in the comments below!
