Happy Friday! Is this the first Summer Friday? I’m aware it’s not officially summer yet but it certainly feels like it! I’m currently sitting on my couch, finishing up my second (and last) cup of coffee for the day. Matt’s off at a training for work and Ellie is laying by the back door, waiting for me to take her to play. She’s going to have to wait, though, because I am going to go for a run first.
I’ve decided that I am going to really get back into running this summer. If you’re out of the loop, I used to run a lot in college. You could often find me running around the UIUC campus morning, afternoon, and evening. I was dedicated. I ran two half-marathons and several shorter distances and even began training for the Chicago Marathon. But then I gave myself an overuse injury when I considered training for a triathlon. So, my doctor advised me to rest, instead.
So, I rested and rested. And tried to get back into running over the years but it was never the same. I’d lost a lot of speed. (I was previously running 9 minute miles which is by no means fast but going from that to 12 minute miles was honestly, embarrassing. I’m aware now that there’s no shame as long as you’re moving, you know?) So I’d pick up running again only to stop when I wasn’t getting better or faster. (No shit, Erin, you can’t get better at something you only do for a month.)
Anyway, I’ve decided to pick up running again and – I’m hoping – this time for good. You know, even though running can be hard, it’s incredibly rewarding. I feel so good finishing a run, regardless of how slow (I think) I currently am. And, also, my peak of running was not only the best I ever looked, but it was the best I ever felt! So, trying to get back to that, especially after some personal issues I’ve been dealing with.
Okay, that’s enough. I’ve got to get going. I have a bachelorette party for my youngest sister tonight and need to get a move on the day! Let’s get into some fun things I’m loving on this beautiful summer friday!
It’s officially shorts season, ladies and gents. And it’s time to break out the Bodyglide! I hate running in tights in the summer for several reasons: hot and weird tan lines. But my thighs are besties and so Bodyglide is a must! There’s no real reason why I buy “Bodyglide For Her” over regular ol’ Bodyglide – aside from the color, ha – but they’re the same price so,…
I’d like one of these in every single color, please and thank you!
I mean… how cute is my dog?! Living her best life amongst the blossoming tulips.
Never not thinking about this Burrata Peach & Toasted Sourdough situation from Pizzeria Portofino. Definitely need to head back there this summer to relive!
What are your plans for this beautiful weekend?! Tell me everything!
