Happy Sunday! As I’m writing this, I’ve got Ellie snuggled up on the couch after a pretty intense romp in the snow. It’s our first real snowfall of the season so Matt and I took her to the lakefront to play with her dog friend, Hali. Matt and I spent our New Years Eve at my parents house doing laundry because our machine is broken. I’m pretty sure I was asleep before 10pm. Whoops. We did order Pequod’s, though, so we’ve got that going for us.
I’m planning on sharing a few resolutions/goals/whatever for 2022 later this week but for now, let’s catch up. Grab a mug, brew your favorite Sunday coffee and let’s get into the nitty gritty

Catch Up
If you missed it, Matt and I got engaged! Hooray! It’s been difficult to start planning since a) we’re on opposite schedules and b) event planners are out of office/busy with other events! We have managed to schedule a venue tour, though, which is really exciting! In the future, I may decide to share our venues options but for now, we’re doing our best to keep things close to the chest.
One thing I’ve been loving about the planning process thus far is seeing how much I’ve grown up from my early 20s to my early 30s. When Pinterest first came out (in 2010 – eek!), I – like many young women! – had a “wedding” board full of ideas for the future. I eventually made that board private and stopped pinning altogether when Matt and I got serious. It felt like bad juju, you know?
But wow, there was so much color! Pinks, blues, oranges! And so much twine! And big hair! Lots of DIY! (I’m not creative!) How?! Why?! I was all over the place.
Sunday Shopping
Abercrombie: Did you hear about the Abercrombie glitch the other day? Yikes. They’re running an up-to-50%-off sale on winter items and 20% off of everything else. I love this crewneck body suit, this tank body suit, and this smocked dress!
Madewell: With code BYE2021, you can get an extra 30% off of sale items! How cute are these leopard slippers? Or this cardigan?!
All She Wrote: Local to Chicago, All She Wrote is offering 30% off of holiday items! I love these ski slope cards!
Reading & Watching
Well, I didn’t hit my goal of 25 books in 2021. So I did some real reflecting (ha) and settled on 15 books for 2022! I’m starting with What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty.
If you’ve been living under a rock… the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Special: Return to Hogwarts is now streaming on HBO! Matt and I have been watching it in spurts but we’re loving it so far. I’m going to commit to re-reading the books (after finishing What Alice Forgot)!
Stop checking your work email outside of work hours! Checking work email outside of work hours heavily contributes to burnout. Emails = stress = unable to relax = difficulty sleeping = more irritable people! So, make your boundaries clear and stop checking (and responding to!) emails when you’re done for the day.
“The 411 on Endometriosis” on the Diet Starts Tomorrow podcast While I don’t suffer from endo, so many women do. And so many more women deal with other female-only ailments and they suffer in silence. I thought this episode with Dr. Sandra Gelbard was eye-opening about not only endometriosis, but in advocating for yourself!
