Sunday Coffee Jan 23

Hello! Happy Sunday! I woke up feeling renewed and refreshed and ready to tackle the week ahead. I had a terrible, horrible, no-good, very-bad day yesterday. Most of my bad days are because of work and you know, it’s tough. Pediatrics is an interesting field because I really do love the patient population but holy hell do I hate a lot of the parents. And bureaucracy. And the fact that “the system” fails so many. On those days, I rage-job-search and think about what I could be doing instead. So, I did that for a bit last night, did a Melissa Wood Health pilates class, and went to bed early.

Then this morning, we woke up this morning to quite a bit of snow! I was not expecting that although I haven’t really been paying attention to the weather much. All I know is that it’s been cold. Ellie’s really enjoying it though. I took her to the lakefront this morning to play with one of her gal pals and they went nuts with the snow. She’s probably going to sleep all day which is a-ok with me. Anyway, time to grab a mug of your favorite Sunday coffee and let’s get into it!

Shopping

Tuckernuck: The Tuckernuck sample sale is coming up and while things do sell out quickly, I’m going to try to get a few new items. I love this lilac floral dress and this woven straw bag. The sample sale starts Tuesday, January 25 at 12PM ET (so, 11 if you’re reading in Chicago) and you can get up to 85% off items. Again, I’ve heard things sell out quickly so I’m not banking on anything and will ball on a budget at Target if I can’t get what I want for a deal.

J. Crew: These quarter zips are great if you want to look put together while running errands. One of these days, when my life calls for nicer jackets, I will get a camel-colored wool coat. Like, it’s on my list of “must buy” for one day. Use code SHOPSALE for an additional 60% off sale styles.

Crate & Barrel: Matt and I have just barely started our search for a few registry items. I do know, however, that these cute drinking glasses will be on there. Like, they’re perfect for water and cocktails! Win.

Reading

I recently finished What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. The story follows a woman, Alice, who wakes up one day missing an entire decade of her life. I’m a big Liane Moriarty fan and really enjoyed this story!

I’m currently re-reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. After watching the 20th Anniversary Special on HBO I mentioned last Sunday coffee, I knew I wanted to re-read the books rather than re-watch the movies for the millionth time.

Watching/Listening

Ozark! Season 4 Part 1. Matt and I have been looking forward to this season for forever! It’s been what, two years? The first episode was off to a great start and I’m excited to see where the rest of the season goes and how the series finishes!

As for listening… well, not much! I listen to the Diet Starts Tomorrow podcast and one of their hosts, Sami, has quit. So I’m looking forward to seeing where Aleen takes the show.

I/we have been working on our wedding playlist and do-not-play list. We’re going to be hiring a DJ, for sure(!), but will want background music for the rehearsal dinner, the day of, etc. Some key players on our playlist: Yeah by Usher (duh), Everybody (Backstreets Back) also duh, and Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift. On our do not play list: Chris Brown and R. Kelly (which sucks because I shamelessly love Remix to Ignition so, so much).

What’s new with you? What are you reading/watching/shopping/listening to? Any songs or artists that are must-haves for a fun wedding reception? Or recommended do-not-plays?! Hit me.
